Religious Freedom in America is an initiative launched by the National Council for Religious Freedom, an ecumenical coalition of America's faith leaders committed to defending all Americans' constitutionally protected right to freely live and practice their religious beliefs. Since the very founding of our great nation, religious freedom has been seen as an inalienable right for all Americans.
However, many today are concerned by what appears to be a growing and concerted effort to restrict and redefine religious freedom in ways our Founders and the Constitution never intended. The National Council for Religious Freedom believes that America's faith leaders can and should lead the way in defending religious freedom for all Americans.
Religious Freedom in America brings together Americans of all faiths to discuss the challenges all faiths face and to seek common solutions. The initiative began in October 2023 with a conference in Washington, DC and continues with in-person events and monthly Zoom meetings to bring together groups and activists who advocate for and defend the free exercise clause of the First Amendment.
The next Religious Freedom in America conference will take place in Washington, DC on Thursday, February 6, 2025. Details will be announced soon.
